How Much Does Spectrum Really Cost?

The advertised Spectrum price is a first-year price for one service. 

• Internet Premier opens at $40 and settles at $85. 
• Activation adds a one-time $20 charge. 
• A technician visit costs another $50. 
• Advanced WiFi takes $10 every month until you supply your own router.

Promotions differ by market and by customer group, so an exact quote depends on the service address.

The second year is the most expensive. Twelve months of Premier at the standard rate costs $1,020 in service charges alone. Advantage costs $600 for the same period at a fifth of the speed. Internet 2 Gig is cheaper than Gig at the addresses where it is available, but it costs less to renew.

The modem carries no monthly charge on any tier. Residential internet plans carry no annual contract. Wireless performance inside the home will differ from the advertised wired speed.

Internet Advantage availability depends on eligibility and location. Internet 2 Gig reaches select markets only. Enter the complete service address before you rely on any listed rate.

Why the first statement is larger than the monthly rate

The $20 activation charge applies to self-installation as well as professional installation. The $50 is separate and applies only to a technician visit.

Service charges begin at activation, at confirmed equipment delivery, or eight days after a pickup or shipment. Spectrum uses whichever event comes first, so a gateway left in its box for a week still generates charges.

The first statement can also reflect a package change. Remaining subscriptions return to undiscounted prices after one component of a package ends. Check the service-change confirmation for the new monthly amount.

A compatible personal router removes the $10 Advanced WiFi charge. The modem stays included either way. Two years of Advanced WiFi comes to $240, so any router costing less pays for itself inside that window.

Invincible WiFi provides cellular backup and a battery. At $30 on internet-only service it costs $360 a year, the same as twelve months of Internet Advantage.

Spectrum recommends two extenders for most homes. Two devices add $10 a month on top of any WiFi service charge.

The two TV Stream tiers carry no introductory rate, so their prices don’t change at the twelve-month mark. Every other tier changes at that mark. TV Platinum climbs hardest in dollar terms.

Add-ons carry their own monthly prices:

Local channels and regional sports access vary by market. Confirm the lineup before you purchase, because a cheaper tier can omit a station the household watches every week.

Sports View and Entertainment+ together add $420 across a year. A qualifying TV package includes one Xumo Stream Box, though each additional device costs $5 a month. The TV tier determines which app subscriptions come with it.

Voice

Spectrum Voice advertises $15 a month for the first year. A qualifying package holds it at $10 for three years instead. The one-year promotion reverts to a standard rate set by location. International calling adds $5 a month.

Voice requires another eligible Spectrum service; checkout verifies the combination at the address. Taxes and government charges on voice service vary by location, so treat the advertised amount as incomplete until the order summary confirms it.

The TV rows include Advanced WiFi. The first-statement column includes the $20 activation charge; professional installation adds $50 to every row. Local TV setup amounts and separately listed taxes stay outside the table.

The standard-rate column is where a household discovers what it signed up for. A TV Select Signature package on Premier costs $2,700 a year once every promotion expires.

A package promotion can replace these standalone rates entirely. Its written confirmation should name the monthly credit and the expiration date. A component removal can end the credit early, so request the revised recurring amount before you authorize any service change.

What changes by address

Taxes and fees are extra in select states. TV-related government charges differ by market. Exact area pricing appears on Spectrum’s rate card for the address.

An address check changes eligibility as well as price, since promotional rates can require new-customer status or an online order.
